Energetic sculptural paintings and wearables continue to be a primary focus of my experience of being a Mexican American losing the majority of my Spanish. Through my portraits, I connect to my family, and culture, and celebrate it. To express my distance concerning my Latina identity and presence in my family, I created a series of paintings that represent each family member and allowed me to speak with them and get to know them through each painting. In each painting, I came up with cryptic patterns that unlock the personality of the subject. From my mother to my closest friend, my work tells the story of the people who make up my identity.

In addition to my paintings, I created wearable sculptures that I participate in to create a space for myself to identify with my Mexican culture and take pride in it.
